Things to Remember When Nothing is Going Right

Sharing is caring!

“Nothing can be right, when everything is wrong”- C.W. Stoneking

Breathe

Take long breaths, focus on it. Try to visualize the breath, like you can see the air working down into the lungs and leaving it. Get in touch with that basic feeling that you are alive and breathing and try to stay in this state for as long as you can.

You have made it this far and can go further

Life wanes and waxes, we struggle and we coast. Be less judgmental towards your current state and convince yourself that this is a small part of a greater story. And in this story you are an amazingly successful and happy person!

Picture the struggle as growth

Though we may hate negative feelings like pain, confusion, and loneliness, there is much to learn from every emotion. Put your thoughts and emotions on paper, ask yourself questions

      1. Why am I unhappy?
      2. What can I do to be happy?
      3. What is one thing I can do today to feel accomplished?

If you put all of your energy into the negative thoughts “everything is horrible and nothing is good” then you will never find the good.

There is support for you

When we are at our lowest points, it may not seem like there is anyone that could help us. We may even push people away! It is essential at this point to reach out for support, whether that be professional or just a close friend. When nothing is going right, having a person to navigate this period with you can give you insights into your situation that you may be unable to see. Even if you don’t want advice, having someone to sit and listen to what is on your mind can help you develop strength and feel less alone.
