Giving all you have into school & neglecting other opportunities
Don’t get me wrong, I value education and where all of the doors it can open. The issue is when you put all of your time and effort into this thinking it was the upmost importance in order to achieve success. Take a step back and reflect more on who you are and where you want to go, outside of an education setting and don’t be judgmental towards yourself if you think you don’t want a typical college education. Its okay to take your time and explore what life has to offer.
Putting mental health on the backburner
Fortunately I was raised to be mindful of my mental health and felt safe seeking help when I needed it. Even with a good support system, I still think my mental health should have gotten more attention, especially during my college years. The thing is… you can take all the steps you are supposed to take for mental health. You can exercise regularly, eat healthy foods, practice mindfulness and meditation and still struggle with mental illness.
Not dreaming big enough
Growing up I certainly had big dreams. From being a movie star to an astronaut, its sad to see how quickly these dreams die off as you get older. I think I just got tired, and being a movie star or an astronaut is hard to attain when you are tired from life throwing all its junk at you for years. Keep checking in with yourself on what your TRUE dreams are. Don’t lie to yourself here, take the chance to really dissect this idea.
